The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimeters, across the central ¾ of the tread going around the complete circumference of the tyre.
Not just to comply with the Law but also for safety reasons it is common sense that you replace your tyres before the minimum legal limit is reached of 1.6mm. It is recommended that you change tyres at 3mm.
